Howdy Storytellers 🤠,

I recently spoke with my friend Ross.

No not that Ross…

Ross Pruden. But he’s an artist too…

Ross has spoken at film festivals about AI filmmaking and how it has the opportunity to create boundless new opportunity for storytellers.

He said something on our call that struck me. I needed to share it with all of you.

To paraphrase: “It’s much easier to fear what is lost by change than see the opportunity in what can be newly created.”

Right now with AI:

  • Many filmmakers are worried that traditional production will be swallowed by AI threatening their livelihoods

  • Many authors are worried that AI books will (and are) flooding the market and stealing their readers

  • Many musicians are worried that AI music will render their art a relic of the past

There’s something ironic about these fears.

It’s exactly what gatekeepers do.

They look at your story, a potential opportunity to reach new audiences with a great experience, and instead, look at all the reasons why it may fail and lose them money.

We now live in an age where you don’t need permission from gatekeepers to bring your vision to life. You just need your laptop, your story, and YOUR permission.

So how do you give yourself permission to create when so much of society’s programming is to box you in?

First think of what could go right… the opportunity… rather than what could go wrong.

  • How could your film help change the life of a viewer, even if it’s just one?

  • What new things will you learn and discover in the process of creation?

  • How can creative industries grow and thrive with AI?

  • How much fun will you have when you get to create in new ways and see your stories come to life?

Stories are what give life meaning. And the most important story you have is the one you tell yourself about what is possible and what you are capable of.

I’m not sure what’s going to happen.

What I can tell you is that I have always believed in storytellers and will bet big on our lives getting better when we put more power in the hands of storytellers.

Whether it’s through the Creatorwood Streaming Platform (which gives you 100% of your rights, no exclusivity, all of the emails of your followers + viewers, and 80% of the gross revenue) or the Movie Machine (currently on waitlist) or VIP Production (where we make your film using AI for you), Creatorwood is on a mission to raise the ceiling for what’s possible in storytelling while lowering the barrier to entry so anyone with a story can create.

It’s early days.

But once you realize that you have the power to create, you start to see what your creations can lead to.

There’s less reason to fear. And more reason to hope.

I have faith in you and our entire community of storytellers.

There’s going to be lots and lots of new creations.

It won’t take away from the beautiful art, films, and stories that have already been told.

It will only grow the number of people participating and appreciating culture. And I’m confident there will be even more people making a living from their creations by 2030 than today.

In the meantime, I’ll see you all soon for another episode of Director’s Commentary soon. You can find all past episodes on YouTube HERE.

And as always don’t forget…
