takes ~2 hours to read · 100 ideas, three stages
How to think like Disney, not like an author. The synergy map Walt Disney drew in the 1950s — and how to draw your own version at your scale.
The Readers First Principle. The single filter every monetization decision should pass through (and how most author advice gets it backwards).
Why the worlds you've built in your imagination are worth more than your royalty statements ever told you.

Quick wins, low-cost experiments, and ways to validate a new income stream before spending real money. If you have a small audience and one published book, start here.
35 ideas
The systems and products that turn one-off wins into recurring revenue. Memberships, story letters, courses, communities, merch lines — the engine that makes income predictable.
40 ideas
For authors ready to think at Disney scale. Films, streaming shows, consumer brands, retail partnerships, licensing, fan equity — the moves that turn a writing career into a generational business.
Each idea packed with examples, the psychology behind why it works, and a step-by-step playbook you can run this week.

I (Michael Evans) wrote my first sci-fi novel at fourteen and have written more than a dozen since. Along the way I went to Harvard, worked at MrBeast, co-founded a software startup that helps authors make millions a year in memberships, and spent years livestreaming the journey of building a creative business while traveling the world.
But here’s the thing nobody told me when I published my first book: the rules of the game I was playing were completely optional.
The publishing industry — and even most indie author advice — wants you to believe your job is to write more books and spend more on ads until you break through or burn out. I’m here to tell you there’s another way. The authors building real, lasting businesses aren’t doing it by writing more books. They’re doing it by going beyond the book.
This book is the map. 👊
✅ Fiction authors of any genre
Romance, fantasy, sci-fi, thriller, literary, YA, anything. If you’ve got a story and an audience (or even just a story), there’s an empire hiding in your hard drive.
✅ Indie authors tired of the royalty treadmill
Write more, publish more, advertise more, repeat — there’s a different game, and you can play it starting today.
✅ Authors with a backlist they’re not fully monetizing
If you’ve published five, ten, twenty books and feel like you’re leaving money on the table — you are. This book shows you how to find it.
✅ Storytellers who think in worlds, not just books
If you’ve ever caught yourself imagining the show, the merch, the theme park, the universe — this book is for you.
✅ Authors curious about AI, but not chained to it
Some ideas in here use AI. Most don’t. This isn’t an AI book. It’s a business book for storytellers.
❌ Authors who only want to write the next book
That’s a beautiful career and a real one. But this book is about everything around the writing. If “just write more” is the dream, you don’t need this.
❌ Anyone looking for a one-click Amazon hack
This isn’t ad funnel optimization. It’s a different game entirely.
❌ Authors who want a traditional publisher to do it all
This book assumes you’re willing to build. If your dream is strictly to be picked, the playbook here won’t fit.
❌ People allergic to experimentation
The 100 ideas range from “you can launch this Tuesday” to “this is a five-year empire move.” All of them require trying things, failing, and trying again.
Who is Michael Evans?
A science fiction author and co-founder of Creatorwood, the platform helping authors turn their books into films, shows, and transmedia empires. He’s published 12+ novels, worked at MrBeast, co-founded a software startup for authors, and spent years building creative businesses in public.
What’s actually in the book?
100 ideas, organized into three stages (First Dollar Beyond the Book, Building the Machine, The Empire), plus a five-part framework upfront on how to think about monetization differently. About 340 pages. Each idea has a real example and a practical playbook.
Is this just a book about AI filmmaking?
No. AI filmmaking is one chapter’s worth of ideas. The book covers everything from print-on-demand merchandise and story letters to live events, licensing deals, fan equity, consumer brands, retail, and a lot more. It’s the full picture, not just the AI slice.
Do I need a big audience to get value from this?
No. Stage 1 is specifically built for authors with small audiences (or no audience yet). The 25 ideas there are low-cost validation plays you can start this week.
Is the book really free?
Yes. The whole thing, free PDF download. We send you weekly emails about building a storytelling business beyond Amazon royalties — unsubscribe whenever you want.
What’s the weekly podcast and newsletter about?
Storytellers of the World is our weekly podcast where Michael interviews authors, creators, and AI filmmakers building beyond-the-book businesses. The newsletter brings dispatches on what’s working in the indie author world right now.
