Howdy Storytellers 🤠!
One of you shared something that broke my heart. Odds are you are in a similar situation. And I want to help you get out of it.
Let me set the stage.
I was at London Book Fair, suited in my full cowboy gear (you’d be surprised to know that I don’t wear this on a daily basis) sharing about the new frontier of filmmaking with storytellers across the globe.
No duels at London Book Fair. Just free books about Creatorwood and author decks to help you market your books.
Many folks I met were already using Creatorwood or had heard about us (it’s a small world in the frontier storytelling!). Many were super excited to see the Movie Machine in action and begin turning their stories into movies and shows.
But many walked up to me with a different mindset.
“I hope you take a chance on my story, no one else has.”
This is the old mindset coming from a time when CAPITAL used to rule the world.
Now, Storytellers Rule the World.
Why?
The Movie Machine by Creatorwood makes it 1,000x cheaper and faster for anyone to turn their story into a movie or show. WARNING: You can try the Movie Machine out right here, BUT we have a new version of the Movie Machine releasing in the coming weeks that is much easier to use and makes uploading your story free for most!
And we are not stopping at the Movie Machine. Just like Hollywood was the western center of storytelling and entertainment for the 20th century, Creatorwood is the new global home for storytelling inn the 21st century.
You are all invited. And not just to create movies and shows.
In the coming months we’ll be releasing:
The ability to create audiobooks from your story for free
The ability to translate your story into other languages at near-zero cost and even dub your movies and shows into other languages
The ability turn your stories into comic books and graphic novels
Even audio dramas!
Great cinema is the combination of nearly every modern art form (music, writing, film, imagery, etc.). In the process of building the Movie Machine we have also built technology that can turn your story into nearly any category of Intellectual Property you can imagine.
We are working on releasing that all to you soon – and at prices that are free or as close as possible to free.
But this is just creation.
I know you all are smart.
Even if the Movie Machine can help you make high quality films for an accessible price, it doesn’t mean that you can get viewership on your films.
So you are back to the original gatekeeper mindset.
One where you are pitching your AI movie and show to producers to try and get funding, this time not to make your film but to get distribution.
But what if we democratized distribution too?
And I’m not just talking about uploading your film to the internet.
I’m talking building a storytelling business from zero to six-figures and beyond.
With the launch of the new version of the Movie Machine, Creatorwood will also be launching an official mobile app across iOS and Android (TV apps are next).
Anyone will be able to upload their movie or show (and eventually audiobooks, ebooks, and more) to the Creatorwood app for free.
You’ll get:
Full rights to any content you upload to Creatorwood with no exclusivity agreements. You own your IP always.
80% of the gross revenue that your film makes on Creatorwood from TVOD (customers buying your film outright) and eventually SVOD (subscription revenue generated from your film)
The emails of every one of your followers and paying viewers so you maintain in direct control of your audience relationship — no algorithm or middlemen in between you.
Data on exactly where your viewers stop watching your film so you can go back and make your film better
This will all be available at launch.
But we aren’t stopping there. Next up is Creatorwood’s Marketing Machine, but I’ll share more about that in a future email.
As I write this, I’m on a plane halfway across the world to meet a core chunk of our team at Creatorwood. Across engineering, marketing, sales, and production, we are nearly at 20 people working tirelessly to create a future where Storytellers Rule the World
The gatekeepers are dying. Of course, Hollywood studios and producers will still have value. But instead of being the end all be all, they will be an accelerant for existing IP. They will all be forced to treat storytellers better, making a more creator-friendly media ecosystem.
You don’t need anyone’s permission to make a great story.
You just need your laptop, a story, and a passion.
I’m so grateful you are all here. This is the greatest adventure of my life, and I know we are just getting started.
15 year old me would have killed to get the chance to be alive as a storyteller today. I won’t stop until he can see his dreams come true, one where his story can become everything he imagines without asking for permission.
In the meantime, the brilliant Creatorwood team is going to be sharing an exclusive series on the foundations of AI filmmaking in the coming weeks as we prepare for the new version of the Movie Machine to launch.
We’re so excited.
And in the meantime, don’t forget…
Storytellers Rule the World,
Michael and the Creatorwood Team
